There are many things I think are awesome about attending a Catholic school but, I think the best is being able to have religion class.  I like to have religion class because I get to learn more about God, Jesus, and how Christianity came to be.  I also like that from our religion class, we learn the way to obey God.   Makenzie

A Message From the Principal

   St. Joseph School

13900 Biscayne Avenue West

Rosemount, MN 55068

tom.joseph@stjosephcommunity.org

Greetings!

Welcome to St. Joseph School. My name is Thomas Joseph and I am principal of St. Joseph School, an important ministry of the Church of St. Joseph. I would like to introduce you to the school’s Vision:

St. Joseph’s educational programs, through the life and teachings of Christ, prepare its youth to be leaders in our communities for the common good, embrace the rich traditions of the Catholic Church, and assist parents in nurturing and strengthening the religious faith of our children.

This Vision is accomplished through:

  • A strong commitment to teaching the rich traditions of the Catholic Faith in grades K – 8

Today’s families desire a partnership when it comes to the religious development of their children. St. Joseph School provides daily religious instruction and prayer, the privilege to attend weekly liturgies and opportunities to apply the social justice teachings of the Church.

  • Opportunities for building future leaders through a strong CORE curriculum and service opportunities

The school’s curriculum has strong emphasis on language arts, writing and math. Graduates of St. Joseph School excel in high school because of the strong foundation they receive in these academic areas. Through service opportunities, the students also learn what is required to be good stewards.

In addition to the above the school offers:

  • All day / everyday kindergarten
  • Spanish in grades 2 – 8
  • School uniforms
  • Certified teachers
  • An intimate middle school setting for students in grades 6 – 8
  • Busing provided for students in District 196
  • Accredited through the Minnesota Nonpublic Accrediting Association

I would like to personally invite your family to meet with me at your convenience and to tour our school. Our school number is 651-423-1658.

Families wishing to enroll their children at St. Joseph School can apply for financial assistance through the F.A.I.R. program.

Currently, the school has openings in grades 1 – 8.

Again, welcome to the Church of St. Joseph and God’s blessings be with your family.

Sincerely,

Thomas Joseph

Student Testimonials

Academics at St. Joe’s offer many opportunities to excel in many subjects.  Yearly spelling bees occur for the 4-6 graders.  Yearly geography bees occur for students from grades 4-6.  In the 6th grade you are given the opportunity to excel in math into higher level groups.  What’s more, in 7th grade, you get to take a trip to Long Lake to study conservation.  In 8th grade, you get to learn how government works by visiting Youth in Government.  No matter what academic level you are at, there is always a ways of being challenged.  ~Ryan, 7th grade

V

Academically, I have been challenged, which has made me work much harder to achieve my goals.  I have been trying a lot harder and am a lot more focused on my work.  St. Joe’s has helped me in my Faith development because, not only do we go to church once every week, we also have a daily religion class and are allowed to talk about God.  ~Nate, 6th grade

V

St. Joseph’s School has greatly impacted my life.  My faith and knowledge of God has greatly increased because we can openly talk about our faith together.  I have also learned new ways to praise the Lord.  Another way St. Joe’s has impacted my life is by challenging my mind in general.  The teachers are always prepared and organized.  The teachers are also very approachable for help if you don’t understand a particular lesson.  My last favorite thing about St. Joseph’s is the class size.  Most of the classes are smaller, which allows you to become closer to all of your classmates.  St. Joseph’s is like a home away from home for me.  Everyone always has a desire to learn and the school is always a positive environment.  ~Ryan, 8th grade.

V

I really like having smaller classes, because we can have more time to ask questions and really understand what we are learning.  We also have a choice of being in an advanced math group that can really help you get good at it.  All of the subjects we study help us to prepare for high school.  ~Emma, 7th grade.

V

St. Joseph School is a very great place to learn.  The school cares for each individual student to help each and every one of them reach their goal.  This school has about 200 kids, but because of the small size, the teachers are able to help students individually.  St. Joseph School gives students the opportunity to be closer to God.  Spiritually, you can connect with God, and you can build your friendship with God and make it even stronger.  ~Christine, 8th grade

V

In the short amount of the attending St. Joseph’s School, I have nothing but good things to say.  The academics are challenging, yet not discouraging.  Class time is full of teaching and not much time to complete work, but this has taught me a lot about managing my time.  In addition, the teachers are really nice and understanding.  They are willing and want to help.  In coming to St. Joe’s, I knew very little about my faith.  In only being here for a short time, I feel I have learned so much.  We have Mass once a week, along with daily religion classes.  We talk about the weekly Mass readings and have an opportunity to discuss the meaning of each message.  Socially, everyone at St. Joseph has been very nice and has given me an immediate sense of belonging.  It has opened my eyes to the importance of how people are to be treated.  I appreciate wearing uniforms, because it gives you the chance to really get to know the person.  I would highly recommend St. Joseph School to anyone.  ~Paige, 8th grade

V

We focus on faith development by having a religion class every day and going to Mass once a week.  We also focus on God at meditation when we have five minutes to quietly make a connection.  We help with community service by doing service projects.  A service project is where you go outside the school to help a group or a person with a service that has to be two hours long.  We have to do at least one a trimester and have 5 or more by the end of the year.  St. Joe’s has made a big difference in my education and I am proud of what it stands for.

~Alex, 7th grade.

V

Academically, the teachers are really great.  They all make sure they explain whatever we are studying and all the students understand.  They go out of their way to make sure students succeed, they even offer after or before school help.  ~Anna, 7th grade.

V

We have service projects that we are required to do.  These projects have helped me to experience how it feels to help people.  You get that warm, fuzzy feeling that you just made someone’s day.  I hope to tell others and help them experience this great feeling too.  Overall, St. Joseph’s is a great place for learning and a safe, Catholic environment.  ~Caitlyn, 7th grade.

V

St. Joseph has been a positive experience for me.  Academically, it has challenged me in all areas of learning.  My daily religion classes have helped me learn about God and how to follow him in my every day life.  These classes have helped me become a good person.  ~Mac, 7th grade.

The faith development at St. Joe’s is great because you can really extend your faith and learn new things about it in a fun and educational environment.  The school environment is very friendly and you get to know almost everyone.  Through sports, I have met some great people from other grades.  ~Jamie, 7th grade.

V

St. Joseph’s has taught me a lot about God and has helped me feel closer to God.  It has also helped me to understand how God helps people, and how he loves us.  Another thing I like about this school is that everyone is like family.  Everyone is nice and they help you out in hard times.  ~Katia, 7th grade.

V

I have gone to school at St. Joe’s since kindergarten.  The friends I have made here are life long friends that are more like siblings than friends.  It amazes me how close we have grown.  When you are with the same people for every class, for nine years, it is almost impossible to not build wonderful relationships.  I love that I hav3e always had the same class and we have grown up together, like a family.  That is the thing I am going to miss the most when I leave in the spring.  I hope we will stay in touch, and stay as close as we are today.  I don’t think it is possible to find better friends.  ~Lizzie, 8th grade

V

Every trimester, we are required to complete service projects.  These are projects where we go out into the community and help it in a positive way.  Every time I do one of these services, such as raking leaves in a neighbor’s yard, or working at ‘Feed My Starving Children, I always feel good about myself because I know that I helped make someone’s day a little brighter.

~Leah, 7th grade.

V

We have great academics, faith development and community service.  In academics, everyone is always learning something new.  I especially like the teachers because they never give up and I know that they believe and have confidence in me.  ~Kalina, 7th grade

All qualifying families will receive the assistance which has been set aside for them. As school families consider applying through F.A.I.R., they should keep in mind the following:

  • All applications are kept confidential and are reviewed by the Parish Business Administrator.
  • F.A.I.R. is a local firm headquartered in Rosemount with over 800 clients nationwide.
  • Over $90,000 was awarded in financial assistance to St. Joseph families this year.
  • The criteria for determining the amount of assistance awarded is based upon family income, family size, special circumstances, etc.
