African Partnership

St. Joseph School is in a partnership with St. Patrick’s School in Nguni, Kenya.  Nguni is in the Kitui Diocese and is one of five schools in partnership with schools in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.  St. Patrick’s School is under the direction of Father Joseph Nzelu and currently enrolls nearly 80 students in Levels 4 – 8 (Grades 4 - 8).  The students of St. Joseph School have hand written and e-mailed letters to the students at St. Patrick’s and the students there have reciprocated with correspondence. The middle school students at St. Joseph School take part in a series of lesson plans that help them to learn more about Kenya, St. Patrick’s and the culture of the people living in Nguni.  Each Monday morning at convocation, the students of St. Joseph School say a Partnership Prayer which is also said by the students at St. Patrick’s.

2011 Graduates of Hidden Valley High School in Roanoke, Virginia

We just wanted to write and tell you thanks again for all of the support and education you gave us at St. Joseph’s.

We carried all we learned into high school.  We both graduated with straight A’s and are both co-valedictorians.  We actually will both be attending James Madison University next fall in the Honors Program.  Diana is thinking about pursing nursing or physician assistant or something related to that.  Julia is majoring in kinesiology wanting to pursue physical therapy.  Thanks again for everything and hope all is going well.

Chad Berg – Graduated in the Top Ten of His Class!

2011 Graduate of Rosemount High School

I am proud to say that I am now graduating in the top 10 of the class, and I have excelled in the choral arts.  I plan on attending the University of St. Thomas.

I can identify some of the great things used at St. Joe’s that has allowed all of us as St. Joe’s graduates to become better students and better people.  While attending, I was exposed to a variety of different learning styles and the teachers were able to identify our class’s multiple intelligences.  Also, the disciplinary measures were fair and consistent which created an effective learning environment.

I firmly believe that St. Joe’s was a wonderful school for me to attend, and that it helped me to become a great student and grow in my faith.  Thank you again for a wonderful nine years, and I will definitely take the experience with me as I go to college and beyond.

SUPERKIDS

Reading Curriculum

St Joseph School is now a Super School!  What is a Super School?  A Super School implements the SuperKids Reading Program from Kindergarten through second grade.  It participates in specialized teacher training and receives year-round coaching provided by reading experts.  It installs the Super Tutor Program, whereby volunteers are trained to make a difference in the classroom by assisting children with reading, writing, and spelling.  Above all, a Super School gathers the entire community - parents, teachers, volunteers - around a common purpose: teaching every child to read by the second grade.

The tuition rates for the 2012 - 2013 school year are as follows:

For families who are members of St. Joseph Parish:

1st Child:      $4,266

2 Children:    $8,424

3 Children:    $10,323

4 Children:    $11,349

For families who are NOT members of St. Joseph Parish:

Per Child:     $5,265

All of the above amounts are per year and payments may be made on a 9 month or 12 month basis.

Welcome to St. Joseph School. My name is Thomas Joseph and I am principal of St. Joseph School, an important ministry of the Church of St. Joseph. I would like to introduce you to the school’s Vision:

St. Joseph’s educational programs, through the life and teachings of Christ, prepare its youth to be leaders in our communities for the common good, embrace the rich traditions of the Catholic Church, and assist parents in nurturing and strengthening the religious faith of our children.

This Vision is accomplished through:

• A strong commitment to teaching the rich traditions of the Catholic Faith in grades K – 8

Today’s families desire a partnership when it comes to the religious development of their children. St. Joseph School provides daily religious instruction and prayer, the privilege to attend weekly liturgies and opportunities to apply the social justice teachings of the Church.

• Opportunities for building future leaders through a strong CORE curriculum and service opportunities

The school’s curriculum has strong emphasis on language arts, writing and math. Graduates of St. Joseph School excel in high school because of the strong foundation they receive in these academic areas. Through service opportunities, the students also learn what is required to be good stewards.

Financial Assistance Information

St. Joseph School offers financial assistance to families who qualify. This financial assistance is managed through an outside vendor entitled TADS. Because the Church of St. Joseph is fully committed to making Catholic education affordable to all who apply to the school, all families are strongly encouraged to examine their finances and complete the TADS application form. All qualifying families will receive the assistance which has been set aside for them. As school families consider applying through TADS, they should keep in mind the following:

• All applications are kept confidential and are reviewed by the Parish Business Administrator.
• Over $160,000 was awarded in financial assistance to St. Joseph families this school year.
• The criteria for determining the amount of assistance awarded is based upon family income, family size, special circumstances, etc.
