Harvest Festival Celebration

September 15 & 16, 2017

6-10 pm both evenings 

Harvest Festival weekend festivities kick off on Friday, September 15 at 5pm featuring an Oktoberfest theme
complete with Brats, Pretzels and a Beer Hall. Polka music from The Jolly Zuks Band will entertain us until 10pm.
There will be a raffles and bingo from 7-9pm. We will also have children’s games and activities as well as a Craft Fair.
The theme for
Saturday, September 16th festivities is Irish Fest!
The celebration begins with an Irish Mass led by Fr. Paul Kammen at

Then the Social Hall will come alive with patrons enjoying a Chicken Dinner and Irish music by the Legacy Band.
There will be raffles and bingo from 7-9pm. We will bring back the children’s games and activities and the Craft Fair.

Harvest Festival Raffle Tickets:

Did you pick up your Harvest Festival raffle tickets? If not, please pick up your raffle ticket bundle this weekend after mass.
Tickets are $5 and there are 5 cash prizes: two $500 prizes, one $750 prize, one $1000 prize and the Grand Prize of $2500.
Please turn in completed tickets and money collected to the church office.
We appreciate your commitment to purchase or sell one book of tickets per family. 
 If you run out and want more, there will be extra books available after mass each weekend.

***Turn your tickets in Early & Often***
  The parishioner that sells the most tickets and turns in the payment and ticket stubs sold 
(must be in the parish office by 4:30 pm) by 
August 28 will win $500 cash.  
Stop by the Parish Office during office hours Monday - Thursday 8-4:30 pm and 
Friday 8-Noon to pick up more packets to sell.  
*Winner will be contacted by phone the week of August 28, 2017.

Proceeds from this year’s raffle and Harvest Festival events will go towards the Parish Life and Pastoral Care & Outreach ministries. 

Please support St. Joe’s Harvest Festival through your prayers, volunteer efforts and also ticket sales or purchases and attendance.

Harvest Festival planning is in full swing, and to make it a very successful event we need your help!
The festival is run entirely by volunteers. There are a wide range of volunteer positions, such as set-up, kitchen help, ticket sales, game attendants and clean-up. We will have tables after mass next weekend. Without the time and talent of our volunteers like you,
 the event would not be possible.

Donation Opportunities:

· Bingo –Gift cards of any denominations are needed for Saturday night Bingo

· Kids Games - A huge draw for many and relies on the donation of prizes from our parishioners. 
We are in need of Junk Food for our the Junk Food Walk, 2 Liter Bottles of Soda for our Ring Toss Game,
Brand new stuffed animals for the Plinko Game

· Wine Wall—Donate your favorite bottles of wine.

Harvest Festival & Craft Fair

St. Joseph’s is putting on a craft fair in conjunction to the Harvest Festival  and we have space available!   
Spots will cost $30 for a 6X8 table space, $25 if you don’t need a table and $5 extra if you need electricity.  
You pay us for the space along with a donated item and you keep your profits.

Volunteer opportunities needed immediately:

Games Chairperson(s):

Position Description: Oversee and plan all children’s games and activities for festival. Order prizes and games. Ensure that games vary for different ages and skill levels. Make sure games currently owned by the church are in good working order and have all necessary supplies on hand. Work with the Volunteer Chairperson to schedule all volunteers to help run the games. Maintain records of purchases. Oversee games during festival to ensure fair prize redemption and worker honesty. Ensure safety of equipment and children participating in game play. Be available to set up and take down games and schedule workers to assist. Mentor a co-chair to take on chairperson responsibilities.
Time Commitment: Hours include attending festival planning meetings. Time spent calling volunteers and Festival weekend- approximately 16 hours including set up and clean up.
Talent to Share: Fun personality, creative, easily works with teens and a variety of personalities.

Information Booth & First Aid

Coordinate with Professional Entertainment and Committee head for Schedule of Events
Document via pictures, all major events during weekend
Take candid photos of all booths during each shift and general crowd pictures

Our St. Joseph tradition has been to hold an annual picnic the third full weekend of September.  As an annual event for more than 30 years our focus is on providing a traditional family atmosphere and an opportunity for St. Joseph alumni and parishioners to return home and visit with family and friends.
