First Sacraments

First Reconciliation Preparation

First Reconciliation Sacramental preparation can begin as early as 2nd Grade and traditionally takes place in the fall. Youth prepare for their First Reconciliation through 8 at-home lessons, utilizing the Saint Mary's Press "Go, Seek, & Find" program. Additionally, youth and parents participate in two learning opportunities at St. Joseph Community. First Reconciliation service is held in December.

*For those enrolled in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program, First Reconciliation & First Eucharist preparation is completed in the Spring as a part of a retreat.

First Eucharist Preparation

First Eucharist Sacramental preparation can begin as early as 2nd Grade and traditionally takes place in the winter/spring (after youth have completed their First Reconciliation). Youth prepare for their First Eucharist through 10 at-home lessons, utilizing the Saint Mary's Press "Go, Seek, & Find" program. Additionally, youth and parents participate in two learning opportunities at St. Joseph Community. First Eucharist Masses are held in spring, shortly after Easter.

Confirmation Preparation 2018-2019

St. Joseph Community's current Confirmation preparation is done in addition to Faith Formation or Catholic High School Education. Teens can begin preparing for Confirmation as early as 10th grade through St. Joseph Community. Through presentations, prayer experiences, and retreat, Confirmation candidates grow in faith and learn how to be witnesses for Christ.

Confirmation Preparation 2019-2020

St. Joseph Community is currently in the process of developing a new Confirmation program that will begin in the 2019-2020 school year. Stay tuned for more information!


Child Not Baptized?

Do you have a child who is over the age of 7 and is not yet Baptized? No worries, youth who are seeking to receive First Sacraments and/or Confirmation who are not yet Baptized (and are over the age of 7) are welcomed into our program called "Right of Christian Initiation for Children" (RCIC).
