Anointing of the Sick

Heavenly Father, we lift up all those who are facing various illnesses. Give them the hope and courage they need today and every day. Comfort their pain, calm their fears, and surround them with Your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

In the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, through the ministry of the Priest, Jesus touches the sick and provides healing and strength. Every healing is according to God’s will, but in His healing (spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally) we are reminded of God’s plan to conquer sin and death through His dying and rising.

The Sacramental Rite of Anointing indicates that there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. The anointing can be given in cases of an upcoming surgery or diagnosis of an illness to just name a couple.
